YouTube - VER LA TELEVISION

Eduardo, I am proud of this recognition and the trust endowed on you!
I am very proud to announce that my son Eduardo Valdivieso has been elected as a representative for the student council at the Johnson School of Business in Cornell University, where he has won a two year scholarship for his MBA. All through his life Eduardo has strived for excelence in whatever he does and being able to do what he has finally understood as his goal for his future life is his major achievement. Eduardo is a people's person. Please let him tell you in his own words, the importance of the student council in the life of the school he attends; this is his platform:
Eduardo Valdivieso
“Bringing people together, because that’s what I do”
Quite simply, my ENERGY and PASSION for people will greatly impact Johnson in the areas of business, service, and leisure. Furthermore, I am committed to improving our brand and, consequently, our ranking by making the world more aware of what we already have in place and what we are ready to do
Business: Throughout my career on Wall Street and as a leader in several organizations, I built many relationships with successful professionals across various industries. I have been able to leverage these relationships to secure panelists and speakers for many events and plan to do the same as a member of the student council. I am especially talented in connecting people with others who can help them with their professional needs, while building mutually beneficial relationships.
Service: I plan on creating more opportunities for Johnson MBA’s to participate in community service activities that are impactful to its beneficiaries, while simultaneously creating leadership opportunities for participants. Specifically, I would like to form a joint community service program that involves other graduate schools as well as the undergraduate population.
Leisure: I would consistently look to improve the quality of life for Johnson students. I would like to start a weekly newsletter, “all things fun in Ithaca and beyond,” that keeps us more informed about concerts, festivals, and other enjoyable activities that we can attend. This newsletter would include several suggestions made by Johnson MBA’s on an ongoing basis. Moreover, I would work with the CMC and corporate sponsors to come up with creative ways of putting together networking events that are substantially more fun and memorable than what we are traditionally used to. For instance, we could have a “Price War” paintball match featuring CPG’s battling each other, with Johnson students on both sides.
Brand and Ranking: Johnson has significant upside for even stronger brand equity. Getting involved with the greater Cornell community is an excellent way to improve our brand and make us more noticeable. I will find ways for Johnson MBA’s to participate in committees that organize large campus events such as “Slope Day.” I would also work actively with students and alumni to learn more about their favorite Johnson experiences to include in our marketing efforts. Finally, I will work towards improving the quality and variety of Johnson memorabilia, including fashionable clothing, iPhone cases, and laptop bags that reflect our Johnson pride and make us more recognizable.

The Crossfit the Rock Party: a celebration of our two years anniversary
Today, "Crossfit the Rock" turned 2 years old and Larry and Carlo their founders and all of its members threw a big bash for the occasion. Carolee and her mom shared their home with us for the evening...and boy, was it a wonderful one! We sat under a fancy tent with a bronze chandelier and we admired the beautiful landscaping in the yard.
There were beer pong games and other games of skill. The beer cups were aligned over the ping-pong table and the kids were excited as they threw their ping pong balls into the other team's cups. So much fun! Larry is throwing his best shot!
The birthday cake
Everybody brought food, desserts and all kind of goodies. I have never seen so much food! The pulled pork was excellent, and the chicken and ribs were out of this world. The barbeque tender, as I called him, kept making hamburgers and hotdogs forever...and Jamie's Cake was so artistic and out of this world. But what is mostly appreciated is the time that everybody that cooked something spent so thoughtfully in order to make this occasion a great one.
Debbie, Carolee's mom pampered us so much! Cleaning the tables, making coffe and tea to soothe our rumbling stomachs, getting out of her way, together with her daughter, to make of this a memorable night.
In what concerns me, It was difficult to recognize some of the members dressed in their clean and neat outfits..we usually look sweaty and tired! But beneath all this appearance, what really matters is who we are! It's nice to get personal for a moment and get to know each other and exchange all kind of ideas, instead of only plain old physical fitness and crossfit talk. I did not know that the people which whom I share some hours a week are firefighters, Long Island Railroad employees, pharmaceutical representatives, lawyers, nurses, teachers...all members of a greater community, who everyday contribute in very important ways to make a better world! I am so proud of being a member of their team and very grateful for their patience with people like me, that need to scale their workout...for obvious reasons!! Take a guess!! I am proud of being part of this great family which I joined almost two years ago and even though I get discouraged sometimes because of the hard work involved, I still want to go back, because they have already dug real deep into my heart.
Here are some other pictures of us!
In case you are not familiar with the Crossfit program, I paste here a description of the program as posted in their web:
CrossFit is an extremely efficient and effective way to get into great shape. The CrossFit training system started at a maverick gym in Santa Cruz and quickly spread to Olympic and professional athletes, police and military special operations units, champion martial artists, and – like most of us here at CrossFit “The Rock” – everyday people looking for a superior way to get in GREAT SHAPE! ( my note:I AM WORKING ON IT!)
CrossFit workouts involve constantly varied (we can go months without repeating workouts), functional exercises (we do Olympic lifts, pushups, pull-ups, running, jumping, kettle bells, burpees, box jumps, etc.), done at high intensity (relative to your physical and psychological limits).
CrossFit is challenging, fun, and delivers incredible results. It’s also scalable so that anyone – from highly trained athlete to hardly-trained couch potato – can participate and achieve their fitness goals.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Everyday life, sports, combat, and survival reward this kind of fitness.
We can almost guarantee you that CrossFit is like no other training system you have ever experienced!

Positive Attitudes
I thought It would be productive to read about people that inspire positiveness to the people around them, although they themselves have one thousand and one reasons to be depressed. Here I present you with two examples of persons who look at life like a gift, and not as a right.
Randy Pausch's Last Lecture - Carnegie Mellon University
This is a wonderful way of looking at life, even though his end is close, because it gives the people that stay, valuable advise on how to live a more productive life. Sometimes we don't realize how much can a positive attitude bring to one's spirit and how much time we waste complaining about what we don't have. Life is a gift itself....it is a way of perfecting our spirits and looking for our ultimate goal...which should be the love of God and of all his children.
Yesterday I was looking into the life of another great person, the famous writer and singer, Facundo Cabral, and he also is an example of positivity, amidst so much...let's call it: bad fortune. He was one of seven kids, born to a woman who turned a widow when her children were small. She had to struggle to survive, and unfortunately, 4 of her kids died of hunger and cold. Facundo says that until he was 14 years old, he was illiterate and lead a troubled life. He thought of himself as a "lost person". One day, as he was walking around his neighborhood, he found a loiterer...just like him...and the guy saluted him: "Hi, prince". Facundo thought that he was making fun of him and asked him why was he calling him a prince. The guy answered: "aren't we sons of God, the king? We are princes, then". That ocurrence changed his life, because he had never though of himself as he was more than a bum. Consequently, he called that incident "his rebirth". And so he went on and learned how to read and started writing poetry and singing and eventually, also through random happenings, he came to be famous. He never forgot God and in all his music and interviews, he always praises Him and gives him thanks for his life. Although he is also very sick, he maintains a positive attitude towards life and the opportunity that God has given to him in this world to better his spirit.
From Facundo: "When life gives you one thousand reasons to cry, show her that you have one thousand and one reasons to smile." "God did not promise you days without pain, laughter without sadness, sun without rain, but He promised you strenght for each day, to shed your tears, and to lighten your path."
